Crime Wave by James Ellroy

I actually finished a book. I was doing so good and it took me forever to finish this one.

I bought this one for research on the last episode of Cooking with a Side of Murder I did on Karyn Kupcient.

The book was released in 1999 and contains 11 short works. There are a couple of chapters at the beginning of the book that covers specific murders, including Karyn’s which her niece helped him write, His mother’s, and another women’s murder who was similar to his mother’s. The middle part various mob-related stories. The beginning was good but then I kept getting uninterested as I continued reading it. There is a murder surrounding 2 sisters that I was strangely disappointed wasn’t real cause the way he wrote it was so incredible.

Overall, I did really enjoy the book and plan on reading more of his work. I did purchase My Dark Places with this one which covers his mother’s murder.

I got this one off Thrift book for under $10.
